Mayday needed a city permit for ice cream tables at Anastasia Plaza
Planning and zoning on July 21 heard a conditional use for outdoor ice cream seating at Mayday, 1039 A1A Beach Blvd, in Anastasia Plaza at the southwestern end of Publix. Stephen DiMare, agent for Hyppo LLC, asked for food and beverage full service outside an enclosed building. Staff told the board the plan showed seven outdoor tables and 34 seats on the northwest corner coming in from A1A. The written conditions would lock the seating plan at seven tables and 28 seats.
Staff called it pretty much cut and drive from the last meeting's First Watch outdoor-dining file. A board member asked if it was any different from the other restaurant. Slight differences, staff said: different layout, different restaurant, same kind of exception.
The application said customers order inside and may sit outside under umbrellas — not table-side service, the same kind of outdoor seats Publix and Starbucks use. It still takes a conditional use. In May the same board approved First Watch for outdoor tables at 1081 A1A Beach Blvd. The Mayday staff report listed Crabby's Beachside and Stir It Up as earlier outdoor-dining grants. Another plaza operator, another special OK, same board.
The applicant was not present. Staff said that was not required. No public comment. A board member moved to approve.
