This Privacy Policy explains how Jacob Dascomb for St. Augustine Beach City Commission Seat 3 (the “Campaign,” “we,” or “us”), the campaign of Jacob Dascomb, nonpartisan candidate for St. Augustine Beach City Commission, Seat 3, collects, uses and protects information through www.jacob4sab.com and through our campaign text message program.
Text messaging summary: We text only people who opt in to our text program. We do not sell, rent or share mobile phone numbers or text message opt-in data and consent with any third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. You can stop texts at any time by replying STOP.

Information we collect
- Information you give us. When you sign up for updates, post a comment, donate or contact us, we collect what you enter, such as your name, email address, phone number and any message.
- Text message program. If you opt in to texts, we collect your mobile number, the date and time of your opt-in, the web page or keyword you used, the IP address used to submit a web form, the consent language you agreed to, the messages we send you and your replies (including STOP and HELP requests).
- Comments. If you post on the site’s comment board, we collect the name and comment you submit. Comments are displayed publicly on the website.
- Donations. Online contributions are processed by our payment processor, Anedot. The Campaign does not receive or store card numbers. We receive the contributor information that Florida law requires us to collect and report (such as name, address and, for some contributions, occupation). Campaign contributions are reported on public campaign finance reports as required by Chapter 106, Florida Statutes.
- Website usage. Our site uses its own first-party analytics script and cookies (for example, a random visitor ID and a page-version cookie) to count visits and understand which pages are used. This records information such as pages viewed, the referring page, browser/device type, and the IP address recorded in standard server logs. We do not use this information to identify you personally, and we do not sell it.
- Public records. Like other campaigns, we may use voter registration information that is public record under Florida law, and voter data from political data vendors, to plan mail, door-to-door, email and phone outreach. Our text message program does not use these records: we send program text messages only to mobile numbers that have opted in as described in our SMS Terms.
How we use information
- To communicate with you about Jacob Dascomb’s campaign, including news, events, volunteer opportunities and voting reminders.
- To respond to your questions, comments and other requests.
- To send text messages you have opted in to receive, and to honor opt-out and help requests.
- To process and report contributions as required by Florida law.
- To keep the website secure and working.
How we share information
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We share information only as follows:
- Service providers. Vendors that help us operate the campaign, such as our website host, email provider, payment processor (Anedot) and text messaging provider (including phone companies and platforms that deliver text messages). They may use the information only to provide services to us.
- Legal requirements. Information we are required to disclose by law, such as contributor information on public campaign finance reports, or in response to valid legal process.
Text messaging privacy. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All of the categories of sharing above exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties, except the service providers that deliver our text messages to you. Information will not be sold or shared with third parties for promotional or marketing purposes.
Your choices
- Texts: Reply STOP to any campaign text to opt out (we also honor other reasonable requests, like “stop texting me”). Reply HELP for help. See our SMS Terms.
- Email: Use the unsubscribe link in any campaign email or email us.
- Other requests: To update or delete your contact information, email jacob.dascomb@gmail.com. We may keep records we are legally required to keep, such as contribution records and records of your text opt-in and opt-out.
Data retention and security
We keep contact information only as long as needed for the campaign and to meet legal requirements. We keep records of text message opt-ins and opt-outs for at least four years so we can show that we honored your choices. We use reasonable safeguards to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Children
This website and our text program are intended for adults (18 and older). We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The effective date above shows when it was last changed.
