Manager finalists may get investigator screening

The City Commission may review specifications on September 8, 2026, for a proposal from private investigators to run background and qualifications checks on city manager finalists.

City Manager Max Royle is listed as the presenter, walking the board through investigator specs for candidates who would replace him.

Earlier in the search, the target salary range had already been revised to $160,000 to $200,000. Tuesday's item is not a hire. It is another layer of process around that six-figure job.

The commission may approve, change or delay those specifications at the meeting.
